Okay first, shame on me for not updating in so long! As some folks probably know, I had a couple of scares with a few of the kitties – the worst being a couple of seizures with Aurora and Nanuk. Aurora just had the one, and Nanuk had one mild, and one not-so-mild. They’re both totally fine now, and apparently kittens will often just outgrow it, but it sure was distracting for a bit and the blog fell quiet in the meantime. Also, feeding 8 bottle-babies is totally overwhelming, especially when/if anyone goes off their feed, etc.
The really great news is that everyone is doing GREAT now So I think you’re all due for some massive cute! I’m going to break this into a couple of posts or I’ll just completely kill the internet trying to catch up two and a half weeks in one go!
21 Days Old
At 21 days old, I still had just the 6 kittens. The “bag kittens,” Monte, Minnie, and Claire, and the “Great White North kittens,” Nanuk, Kodiak, and Aurora. Little Kodiak, aka Fatty McFatterson, shows his plump belly!
They are a writhing mess of CUTE!
Tiny Nanuk is awfully cute!
Little Minnie has this soulful gaze thing that could melt, well, nearly anything! She also has tiny folded ear tips that KILL ME!
Also, she has BELLY DOTS OF DOOM!
Also, Minnie is very good about staying awake long past being tired. Until she’s not. Watch to the end.
Claire is working her gaze, too.
Did I mention that Minnie is working it?
22 Days Old
Monte, at 22 days old was, in fact, the first to make the great escape and require a lid on the nest box! Sneaky, cutie, Monte!
Minnie is tutoring the others on the gaze. Nanuk may have it…
Aurora seems to be a natural poser, too.
This may have been the first pounce! Plus, you can see how it is for me these days!
Kodiak really rarely gets called anything but Fatty McFatterson these days because he truly GOBBLES down so much food he feels like a warm and furry overfull water balloon … and then he SLEEPS! He is seriously cute, but he is really a roly poly little guy!
22 days old is still pretty young, and there’s a lot of sleeping to be had!
The box is getting a little more crowded at nap time!
And then the ‘berts arrived! The adorable Catbert and Cowbert! It took them no time at all to get comfy here!
Cowbert has one of the cutest little cow-kitty faces!
Cowbert’s face is pretty cute too!
When they’re this little, sleep is serious business!
At 18 days old, they’re still quarantined from the others, and in the small nest box. “WE WANT OUT! SOMETHING FUN IS HAPPENING AND WE’RE NOT INVOLVED!”
25 Days Old
“Yeah! We want out too!”
“Didn’t anyone sneak a nailfile in a can of cat food? We could make a break for it!”
Nanuk makes a valiant attempt…Also, he has a bit of a voice.
In the end, Nanuk doesn’t care about break outs, as long as he gets his bottle! He totally collapses the bottle when he’s really hungry. That boy can SUCK!
26 Days Old
It was maybe a day or two early, but they ended up getting all combined, all eight of them, when they were 26 and 19 days old.
On that day, the kittens got visitors, and the visitors got a lap of sleeping kittens! Monte fell asleep like this – eyes partially open, tongue sticking out. Zombie kitten!
Nanuk still takes a pretty cute nap.
Later, Monte posed a little less creepily.
They also got to do a little exploring!
27/20 Days Old
Monte has a thing for Aidon, and a thing for this corner of the couch. He just really likes to go over there and sit down or curl up and chill. He also likes to gaze lovingly at Aidon.
Pampi is still around and sweet… sometimes though, he still wants to be the kitten, and cuddles with Kiwi.
And sometimes, he plays an intense game of upstairs-downstairs whappy-paws with her!
And sometimes, he is so completely ridiculous all on his own. Truly. ridiculous!
At 20 days old, Cowbert is FIERCE when meeting Suki, who is SUPER sweet with the kittens, as always.
A lap o cute is getting more crowded by the day, even when it’s not everyone!
I think Nanuk’s getting his ears!
Claire hasn’t quite got them yet – they’re still kind of little triangles, not radar dishes.
Monte’s TRYING to erect some ears!
Kodiak …he’s not trying to erect anything but a deep dream state!
Aurora’s working the ears now, or starting to!
Minnie and her ears are a WHOLE different story! They look like a little German Shpherd puppy’s ears, half-up, with those little folds at the top! I LOVE them!
LOVE them!
Cowbert and Catbert are pretty sleepy between feeds, mostly.
Post-feeding, this is often what my lap is like. It’s kind of absurd. Can you spot all eight?
28/21 Days Old
Monte’s ears have been installed, apparently!
28/21 Days Old
Nanuk isn’t getting LESS cute, is he?
For that matter, neither is Cowbert.
And Cowbert’s proximity doesn’t harm Minnie and her cute at all, I don’t think.
Neither does Catbert’s.
Monte and Aurora frisking it up on the couch!
They are a frisky pair!
And…. Kodiak is sleeping. Still/again!
And Cowbert, working on HIS cute. He kind of has it down.
Catbert has a FIERCE!
So does Cowbert!
But they also has a cute, and a purr!
And Aurora… oh so cute!
She has such a cute little belly, too!
And Claire at 28 days…
It seems that whenever it’s nap time, there is almost always ONE baby not quite ready for naptime who has to have the frisk turned up!
And finally, just a sweet little video of Nanuk, at 28 days old, being sweet.
falls over from all the cuteness!!! more please 😀
*falls flat from all the cuteness* Awwww! So much adorableness. I envy that visitor and their lap of sleeping kittens, seriously. And whichever of the Berts was purring in the video has a loud purr for a little kitten!
So, so glad to hear the scariness with Aurora and Nanuk was just a passing issue and didn’t amount to anything. I didn’t know that sort of thing sometimes happened to kittens. Oh so mightily glad they’re likely to just grow out of it, though. Yay for back to normal kitties!
