Show of hands – who is unsurprised that my babysitting gig turned into fostering? 😉 It really WAS going to be babysitting, but Anje and I talked it over, and since I had gotten the hard latchers to latch, and she knew she’d be getting more kittens in soon, she asked if I wanted to keep them, leaving her open for new ones. So, yeah.
So please meet my official foster kittens (fostered through Anje, and Bitten By a Kitten Rescue):
Kodiak, Nanuk, and Aurora
Doesn’t Nanuk look like a little polar bear cub, sort of?
He wants out!
Kodiak was a difficult latcher when I got him, but look at him now! Look at those BUBBLES!
He’s really flourishing here. Yay!
Even though she’s the smallest, tiny Aurora had her eyes all the way open first!
Sleepy kittens with full bellies!
Pampi is interested in the new kittens, too! They were quarantined from the others for a while, until we could be relatively confident they were all healthy.
Pampi still loves his original babies! They graduated to a bigger box!
He’s so wonderful with them!
Little kittens in a big pond!
I had a really lovely visit from the woman who found the bag with the kittens, originally. It was quite a relay these kittens had! She found them, and they changed hands 3 times before I got them! She was in the process of getting her little girls to school at the time, and so they hadn’t even gotten to see them! She found me on the internet and we arranged a meeting. Talk about a lovely family and adorable girls! We had a great visit!
Talk about gorgeous children!
Okay, my kid is cute too! Especially with pocket-kitten Minnie!
Minnie says “I’m not just an accessory! I’m cute in my own right, too!”
Here is one of her many posing shots, I swear she’s working it!
I mentioned before about my friend Rachael and her fantastic kitty beds. I had to try some out with the new kittens! Poor little Nanuk’s eye-corners took FOREVER to finish separating!
Aurora says, “Eye corners? Those are SO last week for me!” This is truly a tiny bed, and the three of them were delighted to cuddle into it.
Aurora was much more awake than her brothers. Nom nom nom!
“I’m looking at you!”
At 17 days old they are more active at times…
But it’s still an awful lot of sleeping in funny positions!
Look at how Kodiak’s face has filled out!
We put up the top level of this cat tree, finally, and the cats LOVE it! Especially Pampi! He is really shining it on these days, I tell you!
Pampi and Kiwi had a bit of upstairs/downstairs whappy paws going on!
Seriously – he’s totally shining it on! He played fetch with a twisty-tie about 50 times in a row, until he was PANTING!
“Is this how you shine it on?” asks Claire.
Minnie says, “You can try adding pink tongue – that can help with cute!”
Monte’s advice is to show a bit of fat kitten belly, and perhaps half a set of curly paws!
Minne says, “Kitten twister! Left foot on fat belly!”
Aurora says, “I prefer the half-wink, half-sitting pose for maximum cute!”
Minnie is a bit of an expert on cute. She has “soulful gaze” DOWN!
Okay, so you remember when I said I got my Great White North kittens that the whole idea was so Anje would be open to take in more, herself? So, yeah – she was at the San Jose shelter, picking up some 3-week olds, and while she was there, two sets of newborns were getting turned in, and one thing led to another, and she came home with TEN KITTENS! She found someone to take the 3-weekers, but the tinies stayed with her. This was fine, except she had a wedding to go to on Saturday. It’s really handy to have bottle-baby feeding friends to babysit (no, really, JUST babysit this time) when you have an event like that to go to. I happen to be that sort of friend.
JUST BABYSITTING!!!
That is SIX tiny kittens in that bed – with a little room to spare, sort of!
They are super cute!
It’s handy to have a babysitter who knows how to fill those tiny bellies up!
It doesn’t hurt if they have extra beds, and a camera! The one on the left is the darkest black I’ve ever seen on a kitten. Jett was that way. It’s just black black black fur! Almost blue! SO pretty!
Naptime again! It’s always either meal time, potty time, or nap time in newborns’ lives.
Anje DID come pick them up after the wedding! Aurora and Nanuk were making sure of it, and guarding her glasses, hung on the side of their box 😉
Finally, at 19 days old, and quarantine over, I combined my two litters! They all loved the puppy pile ability. Er, kitten pile.
If you were wondering who is the piggiest, or the loudest, it would be Nanuk. Look at his powerful sucking ability!
This was yesterday afternoon (19 days old) and Monte, Minnie, and Nanuk are working on the soulful gaze thing. Poor Nanuk’s eye corners are just SO stubborn, and it makes the gazing a little trickier!
But wait! After a nap, Nanuk’s eyes FINALLY are all the way open! This is the same day, just a few hours later!
Would you look at this chubby little face? Kodiak is in great shape now
It’s a pretty good life, starting out as a Kimberly Kitten, overall
Claire thinks so, at least!
falls over from the cuteness. i love getting to see how these lovelies grow.
omg, so so so cute. I love the pic of the kitten looking at Pampi! it really shows the size difference. <3.
How I love coming here and getting my fill of kitty goodness.
once again, proving that the internet is very tiny indeed when it comes to tiny kittens, I saw this one a friend’s Facebook page and thought “hmmm – that looks awfully familiar…”
